BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Samantha Slykas, a 4-H member and Senior at San Benito High School, hosted the Emerald Star project, a free self-awareness event for the public on bullying and safety awareness in March 2019. In 2022 she hosted the Safety Fair, a free event for the public with different booths, guest speakers, and helpful information on a range of topics such as bullying, substance abuse, stranger danger, environmental health, mental health, gun violence, animal cruelty, youth activity programs, self-defense.
