SBC FILE NUMBER: 156

AGENDA SECTION:

CONSENT AGENDA

BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:

AB 1953 (Mainschein) OPPOSE

This bill would require, by January 1, 2025, the owner or operator of a transit hub, local park, public building, publicly owned building, shopping mall, or municipal golf course that has a water infrastructure source to install and maintain at least one, or maintain at least one existing, accessible water bottle refill station.

AB 1737 (Holden) OPPOSE

Requires local oversight of children day camps. There are significant concerns about expanding local health department responsibilities beyond the scope of our expertise and do not believe this proposed oversight structure puts the safety of children first.

AB 1608 (Gipson) OPPOSE

AB 1608 strikes the authority of all county boards of supervisors to combine the duties of the county office of the Sheriff and coroner by way of ordinance. Currently, 48 of the 58 counties in our state consolidate the duties of the county-elected Sheriff and the coroner into a single office.
