Approve contract second amendment with Environmental Innovations for Green Business programming support and to continue expanding new Regional Agency source reduction programs, extending the contract to June 30, 2023, in an amount not to exceed $79,310.00 (County portion $24,983.00 from Enterprise Funds - Regional Agency) for a total contract amount not to exceed $218,651.00.

BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:

On June 08, 2021, the Board of Supervisors approved a first contract amendment that included an expanded scope of services, and extended the contract to June 30, 2022, and included an additional compensation of $99,356 (County portion $31,297 from Enterprise Funds - Regional Agency), for a total contract amount not to exceed $139,341.

Per the IWM Joint Power Authority Agreement and the Cost Sharing Agreement, the County is the Lead Agency and the County staffs/manages IWM programs to meet state mandates for Regional Agency members. Members include the County of San Benito, the City of Hollister, and the City of San Juan Bautista. Per the Cost Sharing Agreement, the County as Lead Agency is reimbursed for IWM staff/management program costs at an amount based on population figures. Cost sharing is approximately 65% for the City of Hollister, 3.5% for San Juan Bautista, and  31.5% for the County.

The second amendment will extend the contract for another year for Contractor to continue providing green business program outreach and coordination assistance.

 

San Benito Green Business Program Additional Information:

The award-winning San Benito County Green Business Program assists businesses to increase recycling, conserve resources, and reduce operating costs through a state-wide certification program. This program uses state grant funds and San Benito County Integrated Waste Management (IWM) Regional Agency budgeted funds for this assistance and program development. Costs for this program are shared by IWM Regional Agency members, the City of San Juan Bautista, the City of Hollister, and the County of San Benito. This Regional Agency program is administered by IWM, where IWM works in conjunction with Environmental Innovations (Contractor).
