AGENDA SECTION:
CONSENT AGENDA
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
A staff report was submitted to the Board of Supervisors on June 22, 2021, requesting the approval of Resolution #2021-73 and authorizing the Chief Probation Officer to execute a Grant Agreement with the Board of State Community Corrections, for additional one-time funding towards Evidence-Based Youth Programming, amending the amount of $144,000, which the Board of Supervisors approved. On June 29, 2021, the Probation Department received an email from the Board of State Community Corrections stating the amount of the grant has increased to $167,529; therefore, the adopted Resolution 2021-73 needs to be amended and resubmitted to the State.
The purpose of the YPFG Program is to award one-time funding to counties solely for infrastructure needs to facilitate youth programming that maintains trauma-informed, culturally-relevant and gender-appropriate services to youth in the care of counties.
While the intent of this grant is to address infrastructure needs, other DJJ Realignment funding will be provided to counties after July 1, 2021, to establish evidence-based and best practice programming for all youth that aligns with individual case plan development, the establishment of relevant goals and needs, treatment, and transition planning for successful re-entry into the community. Facility providers, community-based organizations and families will work together with agency personnel to integrate services in and out of custody to provide a continuum of care.
