BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Recently, Alan Yamamoto, Director of Behavioral Health announced his retirement after a long and successful career. The Human Resources Department is actively recruiting to fill the position. This request is to temporarily double-fill the Director of Behavioral Health position for a period of 4-8 weeks to facilitate necessary training and provide an adequate transition while allowing for the continuity of leadership within the Behavioral Health Department. We anticipate the double-fill would start around March 2022 and would end upon the incumbent’s departure.
Additionally, the successor would will need to quickly establish professional relationships with the department’s management team and other leaders throughout the Behavioral Health Department, the County, with our partners throughout the community, and establish connections with our colleagues at the State of California.
The Director of Behavioral Health position is fully funded through subvention funds primarily through State Realignment and Mental Health Service Act (MHSA). In summary, this means there is zero Net County Cost associated with funding this position and there is no impact to the County’s General Fund.
