REGULAR AGENDA
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
San Benito County HHSA, CSWD has been a member of the Salinas/Monterey/San Benito County Continuum of Care (CoC) for over 10 years. As a member of the CoC, the County has had the opportunity to secure funding through the Coalition of Homeless Service Providers (CHSP). Since joining the CoC, SBC has received over $5.5 million to assist homeless individuals and families with emergency shelter, transitional housing, rental assistance, rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing, supportive services...etc. Addressing issues related to homelessness is a key priority of the Board of Supervisors. Successfully reducing homelessness in San Benito County will require a coordinated inter-governmental and inter-agency/partner approach.
A requirement of the CoC is to create a comprehensive Plan to End Homelessness” for the entire region. The 10-Year Plan was completed and adopted in 2011. The Leadership Council and the Coalition of Homeless Service Providers board decided to update the plan as the 5-Year Plan to Reduce Homelessness in Monterey and San Benito Counties. Attached is the final version of the 5-Year Plan which is called “Lead Me Home Plan Update, 5-Year Plan to Reduce Homelessness in Monterey and San Benito Counties. This plan was developed over a 12 month series of interviews and meetings with a wide range of stakeholders, and convening of the Leadership Council which included representatives from San Benito County. It is the vision of “Lead Me Home”, the 5 Year Plan to Reduce Homelessness in Monterey and San Benito Counties by 50% over the next 5 years. Measurable performance targets have been established for each year of the plan, including targets for improvement in program performance as well as for creation of new housing inventory. The LMHP contains overarching strategies as well as a multi-agency action plan intended to achieve plan goals.
The presentation will be conducted by Roxanne Wilson, Executive Director for the Coalition of Homeless Service Providers.
