BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Riverview Regional Park
As the Commission is aware, staff has been focusing on completing the California State Proposition 68 Regional Park and Rural Recreation grants (up to $3M each) prior to the November deadline. Recently the State of California has moved the due date to January 20th, 2022. This delay will also delay the results of the grant until late Summer 2022. While we are still on schedule to construct the Phase 1 improvements next spring (parking lot and accessible trail), we are requesting direction regarding Phase II. We currently have $4M in the fund balance and can proceed with a mini Phase II which would permit us to get some additional improvements in place according to the original schedule in 2023. The other choice is to delay the design decisions to late Summer 2022, which would delay improvements to 2024.
