SBC FILE NUMBER: 810
AGENDA SECTION:
Presentations and Recognitions
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
The Board of Supervisors has annually recognized the Red Ribbon commemoration signifying the Prevention of Drug Abuse through the issuing of a Proclamation recognizing the Month of October as San Benito County’s Red Ribbon Month. This year the Behavioral Health Department will commemorate Red Ribbon Month through a family friendly event fair. The fair will have local providers to share community resources and activities that discourage alcohol and other drug use. BMX Freestylers Dream Team will provide two presentations and provide family entertainment and present a healthy alternative to using substances. This year the City of Hollister will be the host for the annual Red Ribbon Run which will include 5k and 1k runs.
The theme for 2021 Red Ribbon Month is, “Drug Free Looks Like Me.” During the Red Ribbon Events Week which will be held from October 23 - October 31, there will be an art contest for k-8th grade students who will submit artwork interpretations based on this year’s theme. This art contest offers prizes and the winners will be announced during a Red Ribbon art awards event, and at our website, and in social media.
