Approve a two-year contract with Sharps Solutions for Regional Agency sharps collection programming, in an amount not to exceed $40,000.00 for two years (County portion $12,600.00 for two years and $6,300.00 for one year - contingent on approval from all members of the JPA).

BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Sharps Solution will provide safe collection, processing, and disposal of regulated sharps/needle waste from designated locations in San Benito County for free residential disposal. Sharps Solutions is required to comply with requirements under the California Health and Safety Code Section 117690 & 117755.
Per the IWM Joint Power Authority Agreement and the Cost Sharing Agreement, the County is the Lead Agency and the County staffs/manages IWM programs to meet waste and recycling state mandates for Regional Agency members. Members include the County of San Benito, the City of Hollister, and the City of San Juan Bautista. Per the Cost Sharing Agreement, the County as Lead Agency is reimbursed for IWM staff/management program costs at an amount based on population figures. Cost sharing is approximately 65.1% for the City of Hollister, 3.4% for San Juan Bautista, and 31.5% for the County. Therefore, the County’s portion of the $40,000 for the two year contract is $12,600.
