BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Economic Development is the proactive effort to retain and attract businesses, which improve the quality of life for all by expanding employment opportunities and strengthening our tax base. Building an economic sustainability framework allows the County and its partners to anticipate and address the local economic changes and safeguard the community’s resources and services. The Board last received an update from the Economic Development Ad Hoc on April 13, 2021, discussing the overview of the Economic Development Ad hoc activity and strategy.
It is appropriate to provide the board with updated information and discuss the ad hoc recent activities regarding the following:
- Cannabis
- Sales Tax
- Commercial development
- American Rescue Plan Act
- Wastewater Treatment Plant
- Broadband
- Tourism
- Lobbyist
Discuss other economic development activities or provide staff further direction if desired.
