AGENDA SECTION:

CONSENT AGENDA

BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:

The Behavioral Health Building is a 12,000 GSF facility located at 1131 San Felipe Road. The one-story building is adjacent to the new Behavioral Health Center location and is a leased building. The facility’s fire protection system, anticipated to be original to the building’s 1994 construction, was assessed at the end of the useful life condition, thus impacting the fire and safety conditions of the occupants and public. The February 12, 2021 Fire Inspection Report reports a deficiency of the building’s requirement for smoke detector units (not present) and to provide a visual and auditable fire alarm system.

The facility condition assessment (January 2021) outcomes addresses the fire protection system in need of: verification of the requirements to add fire protection to the building verify and upgrade fire alarm system to ADA compliant units (visual and audio alarm) and probable HVAC duct cleaning to ensure fire suppression. Improvement modifications correcting exit pathways and signage additionally contribute to the Fire and Safety of the Behavioral Health Building and to the safety of the new County occupants and public visitors by June 2021.
