BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
The State Department of Community Services & Development (CSD) has made available 2020 Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funds in the amount of $123,252. The CARES Act dollars distributed to California are intended to "prevent, prepare for, or respond to" the COVID-19 pandemic. LIHEAP funds are designed to assist low-income households with energy assistance services who have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Approximately 250 eligible households will receive assistance with their energy bills for an amount up to $340 and up to $1,000 for emergency situations. CSWD requests adoption of a resolution to accept the 2020 CARES Act LIHEAP grant, approve the grant agreement, and authorize the HHSA Director or Deputy Director to take certain actions necessary to administer the grant, including executing Standard Agreement No. 20U-2578 and any amendments thereto that do not require a budget augmentation, and any administrative documents relating to said Agreement on behalf of the County.
