Approve contract renewal with Remi Vista, Inc. for the term of July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021 for a maximum amount of $70,00.00.

The State Dept. of Health Care Services (DHCS) has contracted with the County Behavioral Health Department to be the designated Mental Health Medi-Cal Managed Care Plan for San Benito County Medi-Cal beneficiaries. The County Behavioral Health Department must in turn fulfill the TBS (Therapeutic Behavioral Services) mandate. TBS is a service for children/youth under the age of 21 thru the Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment Program (EPSDT) as a Medi-Cal eligible benefit. TBS is an extended contact with a child/youth by a trained staff person in response to, or to prevent imminent life crisis. 

These services are partially funded thru EPSDT Medi-Cal revenues thru State and Federal funding. Service requests are unpredictable for this mandated service so forecasting of future utilization is difficult. The duration and frequency of the necessity for the use of TBS will vary according to the prescriptive needs of the client requiring the service.

In reviewing our options to provide the mandated services when San Benito County children are placed in Shasta County group homes, we find that Remi Vista Inc. has the experience and staff resources to provide TBS on our behalf.

(3)   OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT: Typically agencies that make Group Home Placements are Child Protective Services, Juvenile Probation and Special Education

1)  Approve the contract renewal with Remi Vista, Inc for a maximum amount of $70,000 for the term of FY 2020-21 and;

2)  Authorize the Board Chair to sign said contract.
