BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:

Through the Corona-virus Relief Fund, $150 billion nationally were allocated to Corona-virus Relief Fund.

 

San Benito County's share is $6,428,000 to be spent on necessary expenditures incurred due to the public health emergency.

 

On the June 16, 2020 Board of Supervisors Meeting the COUNTY Board of Supervisors assigned a sum of $500,000.00 to non-profit organizations to provide funding to address unforeseen financial needs and risks created by the COVID-19 public health emergency within San Benito County. 

 

The Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been instrumental in providing grants and assistance to develop and strengthen local non-profit organizations in San Benito County. They have the infrastructure and connection to local non-profits to administer a grant program on behalf of San Benito County. There are advantages of collaborating to assist local non-profits that support the most venerable members of the community and were financially impacted and supporting families impacted by the COVID-19 public health emergency.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

1. Approve Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Community Foundation of San Benito County in the amount not to exceed $500,00.00 for Non-Profits Grants affected by COVID-19;

 

2. Delegate authority to CAO to execute MOU and make minor modifications if needed.
