BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
This is a request to approve the appointment of Ann Carillo as a County Behavioral Board (BHB) family member of a consumer. The County BHB has voted to approve the appointment of Ann Carillo as a member of the County’s Behavioral Health Board, pending official Board of Supervisor’s appointment approval.
As per the California Welfare and Institutions Code, Chapter 1374, Statutes of 1992, Section 5604, the County Board of Supervisors is responsible to establish a local Mental Health Board (MHB) to advise the Board on county mental health issues. MHB representation must include diversity, representative of culture, gender, age groups, consumers and family members. As per the previous to Department of Health Care Services assuming of authority over Substance Use Disorder Services, the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs Certification Standards, Section 18015, stated that an alcohol and/or other drug program Community Advisory Board shall be required for all alcohol and/or other drug programs, including government operated and proprietary programs.
The BHB functions as a consolidated Mental Health and Substance Abuse Board. Ann Carrillo is recommended for appointment by the BHB as an interested family member for District-2, BHB Board appointment.
