CONSENT AGENDA
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
The State Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has issued the County a FY 2020-21 Substance Abuse Block Grant Application. This process has changed substantially from prior years as previously the SABG funding was through contract agreement between the County and DHCS but it is now an application submission process that includes submission of program narrative descriptions, budget narrative and other application requirements.
The primary purpose of this Substance Abuse Block Grant (SABG) Funding Application remains the same as with funding cycles through previous contracts. This SABG application will allow the Behavioral Health Departments-Substance Abuse Program to receive an annual SABG funding allocation from the state DHCS for approximately $525,788.
The SABG funds are for the provision of a variety of Alcohol and Drug Prevention and Treatment services. The funds are focused on prevention and treatment services which are the implementation of strategies, programs and initiatives to reduce both direct and indirect adverse personal, social, health and economic consequences resulting from problematic alcohol and other drug availability, manufacture, sales and use. The desired result is to promote safe and healthy behaviors and environments for families and communities.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
Other County Departments, Schools, the Court System and Detention systems refer clients for substance abuse services.
