Approve Contract with Regents of the University of California for general program support in the amount not to exceed $48,868.00 for FY 20-21, providing programming through the UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE).

Over the last two decades, state funding has decreased for the University of California's Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR), which provides local programming through the UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE). This decrease in funding has had implications for the local programming provided through the San Benito County UCCE. UCCE provides 4-H youth development program, livestock and natural resources, helps farmers develop more-efficient growing methods, solve pest management problems, and develop crops and irrigation methods that use less water.

The proposed continued funding with the UC Extension program working in conjunction with the Regents of the University of California to provide general program assistance is submitted for the Board of Supervisors' consideration and approval.

Attached is the Regents of the University of California contract in the amount not to exceed $48,868 for FY 20-21, as well as consideration to purchase a capital asset (vehicle) for local programming needs. If a capital asset is purchased, the County's costs shall be reduced by $15,000.00 for an amount not to exceed $33,868.00. 

In addition the County of San Benito will continue to fund supplies and services through the annual budget appropriations process. For FY 20-21 budget hearing will be help in September, where the broad will adopt the Budget.  

1.Approve Contract with University of California's Division of Agriculture for office assistance in the amount not to exceed $48,868.00 for FY 20-21, to provide local programming such as 4-H Youth Development through the UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE); and authorize the Board Chair to sign it. 

2. Include allocation for services and supplies during the annual budget.
