BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
For the last seven years, the County Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA) has been contracting with Gavilan College CalWORKs program to provide educational services to CalWORKs participants. Gavilan CalWORKs provides participants with support services such as registration, identifying barriers to successful attainment of academic goals, scheduling participants for placement in testing, assisting with participant's academic and vocational goals by providing tutorial services, EOPS, CARE, internships, work study, career exploration, placement, and personal counseling services. This contract also provides for the payment of work study wages through the CalWORKs Expanded Subsidized Employment program.
