BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
The purpose of this project is to put both jail facilities on the same security electronics platform so both facilities are on a programmable logic controller which controls both facilities. In the County’s existing facility they have the ability to record the intercom system which has proven quite valuable when seeking information relating to inmate grievances, claims of promises made by staff, or inappropriate behavior on behalf of inmates or staff. With these recordings, the jail has been able to respond to Public Records Act requests, defend against frivolous claims, seek factual information and exonerate personnel or stop activities which are borderline inappropriate or in some cases not professionally sound. The recording capability was overlooked when building the new jail expansion.
The funds to be used for this work will come from AB109.
The added $26,194.40 will increase the total contract amount from $174,800 to $200,994.40.
