BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
This contract was returned by this Acute Psychiatric Hospital contract provider only recently. Although we send contracts out for processing by our contract providers well in advance of the beginning of each new fiscal year we have no control of how those providers prioritize their contract processing. Because Adventist Health is so late in signing this fiscal year's contract, they are proposing this contract be a two year contract. Locating acute psychiatric hospital bed availability is a priority when our clients require that care and every available bed for our clients to access when needed is a valuable resource.
Behavioral Health clients may at times require inpatient, acute psychiatric hospital services to meet their acute care treatment needs. St. Helena Hospital is one of the few that provide services for children and adolescents and adults. It is sometimes difficult to find hospitals that will accept children/youth for treatment. The Behavioral Health Department contracts with multiple hospitals to increase the options for psychiatric hospital bed availability.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
Our staff coordinates with Hazel Hawkins hospital staff and physicians where clients may be receiving physical health care and medical clearance prior to transfer to a psychiatric hospital.
