BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) wishes to contract with County of San Benito to conduct trapping activities for the detection of exotic insect pests which are considered hazardous to agriculture and to the economy of California. Those insect pests may include Mediterranean fruit fly, Mexican fruit fly, oriental fruit fly, melon fly, gypsy moth, Japanese beetle and other invasive exotic pests.
The work is performed by existing staff. The funding has been augmented due to the increase in gas tax subvention. Prior year contract had a total contract value of $46,321. The anticipated revenue has been budgeted in the Agricultural Commissioner's Budget for FY 2019/2020.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
1. Approve Contract #19-0268 between the California Department of Food & Agriculture and the County of San Benito for exotic insect pest detection trapping activities from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020. Total contract value is $63,916.00.
2. Authorize the Agricultural Commissioner – Sealer of Weights and Measures to sign contract (2 copies).
3. Authorize the Agricultural Commissioner – Sealer of Weights and Measures to sign Contractor Certification Clause required by the State of California (CCC 04/2017)
4. Authorize the Agricultural Commissioner – Sealer of Weights and Measures to sign Postconsumer-content Certification required by the State of California (CalRecycle 74)
