Presentation of San Benito County Free Library Feasibility Study by Andie Morhous, Director of EMC Research, Incorporated, and Laura Crotty, Vice President of CliffordMoss and provide direction to staff.

SBC FILE NUMBER: 80

AGENDA SECTION:

REGULAR AGENDA

BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:

The current library facility was built in 1960 with a public service area of approximately 7,000 square feet. However, the industry standard for new library construction is now 1 square foot per capita, meaning the current library facility is equipped to accommodate less than 12% of San Benito County’s current population of 60,310 people (according to the last census count). San Benito County’s population is projected to grow to at least 61,000 by the year 2021, meaning the library will be prepared to accommodate an even smaller percentage of the population in the near future.

The San Benito County Free Library contracted with EMC Research and CliffordMoss to conduct a feasibility study for the construction of a new library facility in 2019. Andie Morhous, Director of EMC Research, Incorporated, and Laura Crotty, Vice President of CliffordMoss will be presenting the results, conclusions and recommendations for this feasibility study.
