BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Behavioral Health clients may at times require inpatient, acute psychiatric hospital services to meet their acute care treatment needs. Aurora Behavioral Health is an acute psychiatric hospital in Santa Rosa that provides services for adults, older adults and adolescents with acute psychiatric hospital needs. There is a statewide shortage of available psychiatric hospital beds so the Behavioral Health Department contracts with multiple hospitals to increase the options for psychiatric hospital bed availability. This contract was returned just recently for our department to complete through the board review and approval process.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
Clients receive evaluation and authorization to access psychiatric hospital services from Behavioral Health Department clinical staff. Our staff coordinates with the hospital staff (Hazel Hawkins Hospital Emergency Dept.) and physicians to provide the appropriate associated services.
