BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
On October 23, 2019 proponents presented to the Clerk of the Board and filed the REFERENDUM AGAINST ORDINANCE NO. 991 OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF SAN BENITO, AMENDING THE SAN BENITO COUNTY CODE BY AMENDING SECTION 25.05.001, SECTION 25.03.002 OF CHAPTER 25.03, AND SECTION 25.16.001 AND AMENDING CHAPTER 25.16 TO ADD ARTICLE IV “REGIONAL COMMERCIAL (C-3) DISTRICT" with the County Clerk/Registrar of Voters. Per Election Code Section 9115, a random sample of signatures was verified. Based on the California Code of Regulations, Section 20540, the random sampling verification methodology, the statistical valid signatures are 3,284, which is 159.4%. The sample of the referendum statistically exceeds 110% of the required signatures, per Election Code Section 9118, 9144 & 9146.
The petition is therefore, SUFFICIENT.
