BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:

It has been more than sixty years since the official adoption of In God We Trust as the National Motto of the United States of America.  The Motto is displayed in both Congressional Chambers. 

 

On the Board of Supervisors meeting on August 20, 2019 the Board requested staff to place this matter on the Board's agenda.

 

In California there are currently 136 government agencies have incorporated the national motto, of which 10 are Counties.
