BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Public Health Services receives a
grant from CDPH each year to carry out public health emergency preparedness
activities that include response to disease outbreaks and epidemics. Dr. White,
an experienced pharmacist will work with public health partners, such as
pharmacists and local hospital staff in maintaining protocols for a mobile
pharmacy needed during an emergency; maintaining systems for pharmacy to assist
with disease surveillance using pharmacy prescription data; maintaining the
Emergency Prescription Assistance Program (EPAP). Dr. White will
also co-lead with the Health Officer, the county-wide opioid task force,
oversee the California Opioid Safety Network Accelerator Program Grant from the
Center of Health Leadership/Public Health Institute (PHI) for technical
assistance from leading experts on best practices in opioid addiction
prevention, treatment, policy formation and implementation, community
partnership and research which includes the oversight of a Vista volunteer.
She will also oversee the County Pharmacy work group, which addresses
public health concerns in the county. These collaborative efforts are necessary
to address the opioid epidemic that is affecting the well-being and safety of
our county.
This contract is part of the FY 19/20
recommended budget. There is no impact on the County General Fund.
