BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
CalWORKs is a cash aid program for low income
families to meet their basic needs. It also provides education, employment,
supportive services and training programs to help families get jobs and move
towards self-sufficiency. Clients in the CalWORKs program are often faced with
multitude barriers including the need for counseling services. The County
entered into contract last fiscal year and wishes to continue these services
with the Youth Alliance.
The Youth Alliance will provide individual
client assessments and provide child, family or individual or group counseling
services to eligible CalWORKs clients. In addition, will conduct individual
therapeutic sessions and group sessions as needed with an emphasis on group
work as deemed appropriate. Progress and fiscal reports will be submitted on a
monthly basis to ensure program success. The term of the contract is from July
2019-June 2020. The Youth Alliance has been providing counseling services to
CalWORKs clients for the past few years. Staff has been very pleased with the
level of service provided to clients. Staff has seen a greater need for
counseling services and more referrals have been made to the Youth
Alliance.
This contract is incorporated in the
FY2019/2020 budget. There is no impact
to the general fund.
