BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
The current contract with California Forensic Medical Group (CFMG) for medical services for the adult and juvenile population is due to expire June 30, 2019. This is the seventh extension to the original contract approved in 2008. The Sheriff's requested FY 2019-20 budget includes appropriations for increased nursing and mental health services however, it would be premature to bring a contract before your board prior to budget hearings.
The amendment before you extends the current expiration date to June 30, 2020 from June 30, 2019. The monthly payment will be adjusted upward by 2.8% based on the All Urban-Medical Care CPI Index. This increases the monthly payment to $91,653.24 from $89,156.85 ($2,496.39/mo increase) for an annual amount of $1,099,838.88. The per diem rate, which is charged if the adult and juvenile population exceeds 140 on a quarterly average, will increase to $4.64 from $4.51. The cost of this contract is divided 78% jail and 22% juvenile hall.
Should the request for increased services be approved in the FY 2019-20 budget, staff will return with a contract for your consideration and approval.
