CONSENT AGENDA
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
The MHSA emphasizes Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) as a key strategy in the prevention and treatment of early onset of mental health symptomatology. PEI programs are required to include outreach to people who experience early signs of mental illness. PEI programs also provide education focused on reduction of stigma and discrimination against people with mental illness. The Youth Alliance (YA) is a local organization with a history of offering prevention and socialization services tailored for youth and their families. The Behavioral Health Department is requesting authorization to renew the contract with YA to deliver school based services focused on early screening and treatment/intervention for mental health symptoms. Additional services are the delivery of two (2) youth and parent focused curriculums with a culturally relevant service delivery design tailored for the Latino community and also a series Mental Health First Aid Trainings.
(1) OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
PEI services will be delivered at local schools and the community in general.
