BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
San Benito County children and adolescents placed in residential treatment facilities may also require additional mental health services provided by residential treatment facilities. This contract provides for this level of service at this facility. The higher levels of care facilities usually require that counties agree to purchase additional services as a condition of acceptance of a child for placement. This provider is one that our County CPS and Juvenile Probation Departments have at times placed children at. It is in our County’s interest to have the ability to procure mental health services at facilities our County may place children. This contract also includes the provider’s provision of Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) which is a State Dept. of Health Care Services mandated entitlement service for clients at risk of failure in their group home placement and also to facilitate return to lower levels of care. The Behavioral Health Department’s portion of fiscal responsibility for this service is funded from mental health MediCal funds. The actual room and board cost for these types of placements is paid through social services foster care placement funds.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
These child/adolescent clients are generally under the jurisdiction of the County’s Juvenile Probation Department or the Child Protective Services Division of the Health and Human Services Agency as the placing agencies.
