AGENDA SECTION:

CONSENT AGENDA

BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:

Background:

Annually, during the budget hearings, the Board of Supervisors allocates funding for Economic Development in San Benito County. The amount allocated for FY 18/19 is $35,000. On March 5, 2019, the Board Of Supervisors directed staff to allocate $67,000 to the following organizations:

  • Monterey Bay Business Council $2,000;
  • Monterey Bay Economic Partnership $5,000.;
  • Economic Development Corporation $45,000; and
  • San Benito County Chamber $15,000.

The board directed staff to transfer $32,000 of lobbyist contract appropriations to economic development. However, the Board did not make a motion to approve a budget adjustment for this amount ($32,000).

Conclusion:

To execute the request from the Board of Supervisors a budget adjustment in the amount of $32,000 must be approved.

Board direction will be used for staff proposals in the FY2019/2020 budget hearings for future Economic Development funding.
