BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Authorize the CalOES Victim Witness Assistance Program grant fund in the amount of $319,389. This grant provides funding for comprehensive services to assist victims/witnesses of violent crime types pursuant to the California Penal Code 13835 in San Benito County. Further, this grant will fund an additional 1.0 FTE mass casualty victim advocate that will assist with crime related mass casualty preparedness planning. The position will be staffed as long as funding is secured on an annual basis.
The Victim Witness Assistance Program currently has a staff of 3.0 FTEs.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
1. Accept the grant funds from CalOES in the amount of $319,389.00.

3. Approve budget amount to increase appropriations by $28,940.00 due to an increased revenue source. (4/5 vote)
