Approve Health and Human Services Agency, Migrant Center Manager out-of-state travel to participate in the National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB) Fellowship Program for the following dates:
- Training 1 – Week of March 25 – 29th in Denver, CO
- Training 2 – Week of June 17 – 21 Location TBD
- Training 3 – Week of September 30 – October 4 in San Antonio, Texas
- 2019 NALCAB National Training Event – November 4 – 8 in San Antonio, Texas. Training tracks include Financial Capability, Small Business Development and Equitable Neighborhood Development, in the amount of $4,560.00.

BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Health and Human Services Agency is seeking Board approval for Elias Barocio, Manager of the San Benito County Migrant Center to participate in the National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB) Fellowship Program. The fellowship program is designed to ensure that next generation leaders build the practical, personal and professional skills needed to fill the increasing leadership gap in respective communities. The curriculum is specifically designed to help practitioners become more effective leaders through leadership development, technical training, and facilitating peer networks.
Mr. Barocio has applied for a grant/scholarship opportunity to cover travel, lodging and some meals. If selected there would be mandatory training during the weeks of:
- Training 1 – Week of March 25 – 29th in Denver, CO
- Training 2 – Week of June 17 – 21 Location TBD
- Training 3 – Week of September 30 – October 4 in San Antonio, Texas
- 2019 NALCAB National Training Event – November 4 – 8 in San Antonio, Texas. Training tracks include Financial Capability, Small Business Development and Equitable Neighborhood Development. (Tentative Date)
If he is not approved for the scholarship, he will not attend the NALCAB Fellowship.
