BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
In October, the Board approved a Job Order Contract for the construction of the Sheriff Locker Room & Showers CIP project. That project is currently under construction and there is some additional work required due to unforeseen conditions and owner requested changes. A Supplemental Work Order is essentially a Change Order. This work shall be funded by existing Sheriff Equipment Impact Fees since the work is directly related to the growth of the County's population. This additional scope of work includes:
- repair of existing concrete footing that was affected by new plumbing trenching
- construction of two small storage rooms to replace inefficient rental containers
- modifications to existing briefing room to increase staff efficiency
- addition of doors to locker rooms to provide better security
Also included in this requested Board action is the approval of the purchase of new law enforcement personnel lockers. Law enforcement personnel lockers are constructed to be durable through the daily rigors of police work. These lockers are designed to accommodate the wide array of equipment deputies use daily, such as boots, bulletproof vests, taser charging, bodycam charging, radio charging, etc. This request is for the purchase of 30 lockers. The existing lockers will be relocated for use at the existing Jail for use by jail staff.
Tiffin Metal Products is a high-quality, affordable manufacturer of law enforcement locker products and through their federal GSA contract, they have extended their government agency discount price to our County. This method complies with the County's Purchasing and Contracting Policy Manual Section 2.6 (k) (3).
