Approve contract with Anita Alvarez, Public Health Nurse (PHN) for Public Health Nurse Services for the Immunization and Vaccines for Children Program for the period of January 1, 2019 through June 30, 2019, for a total amount not to exceed $20,000.00.

SBC FILE NUMBER: 420

AGENDA SECTION:

CONSENT AGENDA

BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:

The Public Health Division of the Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) continues to endure a 60% Public Health Nurse vacancy rate with no foreseeable nursing candidates after continuous failed recruitments and interviews. Public Health Services' Vaccines for Children and Immunization program provides an essential safety net to children and adults in San Benito County (due to a lack of primary care providers.) The Immunization Nurse position would be contracted with a PHN for minimal duties of administering vaccines to children and adults weekly.

This program is funded with State grant and Public Health Realignment.  There is no impact to the County General Fund.
