AGENDA SECTION:

REGULAR AGENDA

BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:

In 2013 the County of San Benito Board of Supervisors began a partnership with the City of Hollister Fire Department for countywide fire protection services.  The County and City reaffirmed the partnership in 2015 with a renewed contract.  Having now reach the end of the most recent contract, staff from the County and City collaborated to create the contract that you see before you today. The new Fire Protection contract has a duration of seven (7) years with an additional three (3), one (1) year automatic extensions.

The new contract includes several items seen on previous contracts such as the procurement of three new fire apparatus, the location of the county fire station, response time criteria, and a indicator for contract renegotiation should growth in the county reach a certain point.

On November 5, 2018 the City of Hollister approved the contract and is expected to approve a similar contract with the City of San Juan Bautista.
