BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:

The Migrant Camp applied for, and received, a $75,000 State grant to make improvements to the outdoor recreational areas of the facility.  The highest priority is to construct a new picnic shelter at the main park to replace an existing, unsafe shelter.  The unsafe shelter was demolished by County staff about 18 months ago due to its poor condition.  This project will demolish the remaining concrete slab and construct a new slab and shelter.  The new shelter will be about twice the size of the old shelter.  The design is being re-used from the shelters that were constructed at Veterans Memorial Park.  Using the JOC program saved time and money on this project.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

  1. Make finding that competitive bidding process was not required pursuant to §5.09.010(J) of the San Benito County Code of Ordinances.
  2. Approve a Job Order Contracting (JOC) work order for the construction of a Picnic Shelter at the Migrant Camp in the amount of $71,134.89.
  3. Authorize the RMA Director to sign the work order.
