BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:

Under the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act, all high and medium priority groundwater basins must be included within a groundwater sustainability plan (GSP) and managed by a responsible agency. A small portion of San Benito County lies within the high priority Delta-Mendota Subbasin and is presently not part of a GSP nor managed by a responsible agency. On March 23, 2017, the County notified the State of its intent not to act as a responsible agency for this area. This MOU will assign management responsibility for this area to the Central Delta-Mendota Region Multi-Agency Groundwater Sustainability Agency and include it in that agency's GSP, thus assuring County conformance with State law.
