BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:

Public Health Services is contracted with California Department of Public Health, Emergency Preparedness Office (CDPH/EPO) to work with local health care partners through emergency preparedness coalitions to strengthen our regional health care system to be prepared for communicable/infectious disease outbreaks and pandemics (flu, measles, pertussis, zika, bio-agents and others).  Our newly hired Emergency Services Specialist, Shawn Merillat, will travel to this 3-day NHCPC conference to acquire knowledge of best practices and skills that strengthen preparedness and response to disease outbreaks in local communities.  Costs at state approved rates include travel, lodging for 4 nights, food and incidentals for one budgeted staff on the Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) grant previously approved by the board. Attendance to this conference is approved for and fully paid by CDPH/EPO and is noted as a deliverable in the grant's scope of work.
