BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
The County purchased the building at 1161 San Felipe Road two years ago to create the San Benito County Homeless Services Center. In December of 2017, the first phase of this project opened and included a 50-person homeless shelter. Earlier this month, the Board awarded the construction contract for Phase II of the project, which includes staff offices, training rooms, and other shelter support spaces.
Throughout the design and construction of the first two phases, the County planned for Phase III of this project. Phase III will be the final phase of construction at this location and includes up to 10 transitional housing units at the rear of the building. For your consideration today is the approval of the architectural services contract for Phase III will prepare the design and construction documents for this project. These documents should be completed by late summer 2019, with construction being completed in early 2020. As with the other phases of this project, Phase III is funded through grants obtained by HHSA.
