BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
The Mental Health division of the Behavioral Health(BH) department has been experiencing recruitment and retention problems for a few years.
There are currently 15 authorized Mental Health Clinician I/II (MHC) positions in the BH department, and currently 7 vacancies; a 46% vacancy rate. There is not another series in any other county department with this rate. MHCs provide valuable health and safety services to San Benito County.
Due to this concern, a reorganization of salaries and structure is being proposed to address these concerns.
