BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
On June 12, 2018, the County entered into a contract with Don Chapin Co. to stabilize the hillside at the intersection of Southside Rd. and Blossom Rd. Unfortunately, after significant work had been completed on the initial hillside slide, the hill has had two additional slide occurrences necessitating substantial additional work. It is anticipated that this second contract will be sufficient to fully stabilize the hillside and make necessary repairs to the adjacent road and property. Combined, the two contracts total $1,057,458.
Below is a Rough Order schedule and estimated cost for the remaining work that is assumed on the Southside Slide Project. This is based only on the work that has been previously directed by staff, including the excavation and haul off of material in the "third" slide area, furnish and install jute netting and waddle in locations directed, furnish and install hydro-seeding on exposed areas, excavation and repaving of damaged areas marked by staff, and re-striping of Southside Rd.
The cost and schedule given does not assume any further slippage or take into account any unforeseen conditions. All work will continue to be performed on a Time & Materials basis as directed by staff and confirmed with the County's geotechnical consultant.
