BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
When designing and constructing the current Sheriff's Office at 2301 Technology Parkway, budget constraints required the deferment of several necessary features. One of these features was a properly sized locker room and showers for Sheriff personnel. An existing small room not adjacent to the restrooms has been used for the men's locker room since the building opened. Realizing the need to remedy this situation, the Board approved the creation of a capital project to construct a proper locker room and showers. Using the JOC program, a proposal has been created for this project.
This project consists of constructing a new men's locker room adjacent to the existing restroom and constructing new showers for both men and women (the women's locker room is already of sufficient size and location).
Moving the men's locker room is also necessary to facilitate the needed relocation of the existing backup emergency communications system from the OES building on 4th Street to the Sheriff's Office as part of the PSAP Relocation CIP project.
The project was budgeted in the CIP at $125,000 from the General Fund. The project has been redesigned to get closer to the budget, but this is the lowest price that still maintains the required project features. Therefore, $121,566.49 of additional funding is needed to fully fund and complete the project. It is recommended that these additional funds be used from general expenses.
