CONSENT AGENDA
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
This is a request to approve the San Benito County Letter of Interest and Board of Supervisors Resolution for SB-840 (Chapter 29, Statutes 2018), Homeless Mentally Ill Outreach and Treatment Funds.
The Governor and Legislature have allocated $50 million dollars in one-time funding for Fiscal Year 2018-19-20 to counties for outreach and treatment to those who are living with a severe mental illness who are also homeless or at risk of homelessness, or who have had recent involvement with the criminal justice system or release from incarceration, as well as other special populations within the county.
County allocations for these funds are established commensurate to the county’s population of homeless (point in time count) and the total county population. Consequently the State Department of Health Care Services has determined that the allocation for these funds for San Benito County is established in the amount of $200,000, one time funding.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
Other County departments and allied partners in the community share a mutual interest in resolving issues related to those who are homeless.
