BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
IAEM is the largest and most influential association of Emergency Manager in the Nation and each years hosts a large conference for emergency managers nationwide. This conference provides many educational sessions relating to emergency management. OES has attended this conference the past two years and has obtained valuable insights and educations on furthering the emergency management program in San Benito County.
The expense for this travel is grant funded and has no impact on the general fund. Given the variations in travel prices including airfare and hotels, OES requests up to $4,750 to attend the IAEM conference. Actual estimate of cost is approximately $3,983 which includes, per person, registration ($675), airfare ($397), per diem for 3 days ($147.50), and hotel ($548.55) which totals approximately $3,710.10. Additional funds have be added to the not to exceed amount to account for potential increases in travel costs between submittal of this agenda item and actual booking and to cover other unknown expenses such as taxis and airport parking.
