BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Lewis Aptekar is a licensed Clinical Psychologist who is a private practitioner skilled in providing therapy for adults and children. The Behavioral Health. Department utilizes this contractor to provide mental health assessments, psychotherapy and psychological testing for MediCal (MC) beneficiaries under the age of 21 years. The services will be provided to children and youth at their school sites in our community. Supplementing the department’s clinical resources increases the capacity to provide timely access to treatment for clients.
This is a fee for service contract.This provider must receive prior authorization from our department to be eligible for reimbursement for services delivered when serving one of our MediCal beneficiaries. As the Managed Care Specialty Mental Health Plan for our County, we monitor our contract providers through service authorization standards which assess the appropriateness of the beneficiary to receive services, quality of services received, and duration of service delivery, adherence of the provider to required documentation standards and other Federal and State MediCal requirements for reimbursement claiming. The actual expenses for this contractor’s services are substantially recouped through the generation of Medi-Cal revenues.
