CONSENT AGENDA
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
The County is the lead agency for the Integrated Waste Management (IWM) Regional Agency members and IWM staff manage programs on behalf of Regional Agency members to meet state mandates. On October 6, 2015, the County entered into a contract with Stericycle Environmental Solutions Inc. (SES) to provide hazardous waste management services throughout the county at a cost of $275,000.00. This contract is set to expire on June 30, 2018.
This is a Regional Agency program and costs are shared with other Regional Agency members per the Cost Sharing Agreement. Therefore, the County’s annual costs for this program over the next three years are 33%, or $31,006.
This amendment will extend the contract an additional three years ending on June 30, 2021, and add additional compensation of $281,875.00, which includes minimal increases within the hazardous waste program fee schedule, for a total contract amount not to exceed $556,875.00.
Stericycle Environmental Solutions manifests, loads, and transports all conforming hazardous materials collected at the permanent household hazardous waste collection facility. In addition, SES Inc. assists the County in preparing emergency response and operations plans for the facility, as well as, establishes all San Benito County paint collection locations.
