BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
The current contract with California Forensic Medical Group for medical services for the adult and juvenile population is due to expire June 30, 2018. This is the sixth extension to the original contract approved in 2008. The Sheriff's Office and Probation has identified the need for increased nursing services; however, staffing hours and cost are still being discussed which has delayed the submission of a new contract.
The amendment before you extends the current expiration date to June 30, 2019 from June 30, 2018. The monthly payment will be adjusted upward by 2.12% based on the All Urban - Medical Care CPI Index. This increases the monthly payment to $89,156.85 from $87,305.96 ($1,850.89/mo increase) for an annual amount of $1,069,882.20. The per diem rate, which is charged if the average population of the adult and juveniles exceeds 140 on a quarterly average, will increase to $4.51 from $4.42. The monthly payment is divided 78% jail and 22% juvenile hall.
Once confirmed, staff will return to your Board with a contract requesting additional nursing coverage and incorporating language in support of the Medi-Cal Inmate Program.
