CONSENT AGENDA
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
As a member of the Salinas, Monterey & San Benito County Continuum of Care (CoC), CSWD was approved for renewal funding from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in the amount of $237,518. The goal is to reduce the incidence of homelessness in CoC communities by assisting homeless individuals and families in quickly transitioning to self-sufficiency and permanent housing. The annual contract with the Community Services Dev. Corporation (CSDC) is in the amount of $198,894 to operate the lease functions of the HUD “Helping Hands” Program. Under this HUD grant, CSDC will provide permanent housing to 6-7 homeless individuals and 5-6 homeless families by providing housing shelter by “master leasing” apartments and/or homes to serve unaccompanied homeless individuals and homeless families.
The County CSWD's responsibilities under the contract will be limited to on-going case management and supportive services to all eligible enrolled participants. All lease management services will be provided fully by the CSDC during the term of this contract. Under HUD guidelines, all participants must be homeless with a documented disability. San Benito County has received award notification; however, HUD has not provided the County with the Contract for FY 18/19. In the past, the Board has approved contracts with our sub-recipient in our efforts for clients to continue to receive housing assistance without jeopardizing their housing. The contract term is for April 2018 through March 2019.
