RESOLUTION NO: 2018-26

AGENDA SECTION:

CONSENT AGENDA

BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:

San Benito County intends to receive federal financial assistance from the U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT) through the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). To ensure nondiscrimination in the award and administration of DOT-assisted contracts in Caltrans’ highway, transit, and bridge financial assistance programs, and to create a level playing field on which DBEs can compete fairly for DOT-assisted contracts, San Benito County must comply with the California Department of Transportation Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Implementation Agreement as a condition of receiving this assistance.

The Agreement states that the County Board of Supervisors must issue a signed and dated policy that expresses your commitment to your DBE program, states its objectives, and outlines responsibilities for its implementation.

This policy will apply to all County departments within the County structure. Under this policy, the County acknowledges that it is fully committed to encouraging the participation of DBE's in all phases of procurement and contracting activity within the scope of current and existing law.
